Star Center for Learning
"The Best is Yet to Come"
The Middle Grades Matter program provides intensive academic interventions for 6th and 7th graders who are over-age. Jump Start to High School is an alternative educational setting that allows over-age 8th grad students to receive high school credits toward graduation. MGM and JSHS students are encouraged to grow academically and socially. Through individual counseling, advisement, and collaboration with all of the STAR Center for Learning personnel, we will work to connect the students’ academic strengths, life skills, and future career goals.
The requirements for students to enter the programs are as follows: 1) Students must pass two out of four/five subjects; 2) must have minimal discipline problems; and most importantly, 3) possess a strong desire to advance their educational position. Since these programs are built on an academically-driven platform, we encourage you to recommend your most positive candidates. Note that completion of the application does not indicate acceptance into either program. If accepted, students are expected to meet the academic requirements for the desired program. Grades and progress will be reviewed each quarter.
